Italian Renaissance Chest Restoration

About the piece

This Italian Renaissance cassone (or mariage chest) is the property of UCLA and part of the UCLA Library Special Collections.

What we did on this piece

One on the feet (a sculpted lion) was broken.
Heads were missing (but not lost) on the fresco. A statue on one corner had also to be fixed.
We had to, first, treat the wood with appropiate products, and then restore all the parts of the cassone.
We made a graft for the missing foot using an old technique (glass) to replicate the drawing of the foot.
